JRC was awarded the Roofing Contract for government Vetaran’s Affair Nursing Facility, The Clifford C. Sims State Veterans’ Nursing Home, in Panama City, Florida. After the Category 5 Hurricane Michael hit the Panama City Coast, The Clifford C. Sims State Veterans’ Nursing Home began their large loss commercial property claim with the help of JRC.  After sustaining 155 mph winds, our survey team quickly arrived on site to assess the damage caused by Hurricane Michael. Per the client’s request, JRC’s scope of work focused on removing the existing shingle roof system and replacing it with a much more durable system, a standing seam metal roof system. In collaboration with our metal distributor, Metal Roofing Systems, they performed engineering calculations to ensure the installation methods meets Florida’s strict code requirements for uplift pressures.

To begin, JRC removed the damaged shingle roof system and underlayment down to the plywood decking. Once the decking was inspected, it was determined several areas in the plywood decking would also have to be removed and replaced in order to ensure the infrastructure is properly prepared for the new metal roof system. Using a high temperature ice and water shield, the facility will be protected against wind driven rain and ice dams, and maintains its high temperature resistance and integrity for long lasting protection. Once the proper underlayment was installed, JRC installed 986 sqs of MRS Colonial Red .32 Flush Standing Seam Roof System.

For the exterior finishes, JRC removed and installed brand new OGEE Gutter System spanning 2,072 LF. The OGEE gutter system is considered a flexible and durable seamless system and designed to protect the facility for years to come. The existing soffit and fascia was removed and replaced with MRS Colonial Red .32 Flush Panels. The MRS Flush Seam Panel provides a smooth profile without the needs for concealed fasteners. By selecting a metal material rather than traditional wooden, increasing the lifespan and durability of the newly installed components.
