TPO: Low Cost and Low Maintenance

Thermoplastic Polyoefin or TPO is single-ply membrane that most commonly found on commercial and industrial buildings. One of the more popular options for our low slope division, TPO is versatile, water tight, and long lasting.

Energy Efficient

TPO membranes are highly popular due to their energy efficiency. The default white reflective surface of the membrane is Energy Star Certified. Having a TPO Roof on your building will keep the interior comfortable on hot summer days while reducing your energy costs.

Easy Installation

Manufactured with wider sheets and are lightweight, therefore the material is easier to install and there are fewer seams. Less work and time associated with the installation translates into direct savings for you.

TPO is resistant to mold growth, dirt accumulation, tears, and punctures. Reinforced TPO  can handle a building’s thermal expansion and contraction more effectively than other single-ply roofing products.

TPO is comprised of a multi-layered design that is engineered to be not only cost effective but durable, and water tight.

The bottom layer of any flat roofing system is your base, this can be made of plywood or sheet metal. This gives something for the insulation to attach to and gives the system a solid foundation.

Next up is the insulation, this can range in sizes depending on many factors from as small as 0.5 inches to  several inches. Location and climate are two of your biggest factors in this.

Sometimes JRC will employ the use of a Roof Board that will fasten to the Insulation, giving the roof another protective layer and added strength.

Finally, the TPO membrane will be either attached with high quality bonding adhesive or it can be fastened using screws on one side of the membrane sheet. The number of fasteners or the amount of adhesive depends on building height, wind conditions, and location. Contact us and our experienced estimating team / surveyors will get you on track.

Once the membrane is laid, a machine will run over the seams and heat weld them all together leaving a water tight seal.
